Extremis was a six-issue story arc published in 2005 – 2006 that redefined the character of Iron Man from his origins as an arms dealer to become the ‘test pilot for the future’. The arc has since heavily influenced the Iron Man film franchise, with elements adapted in the 2008 film Iron Man, and the storyline serving as the primary source material for the 2013 film Iron Man 3.
